Mpow Armor Bluetooth Speaker

When I bought this speaker I really did not know what to expect. A single speaker in a splash proof(not waterproof) case. Well I topped off then charge, paired it up and was quite surprised at the sound quality. Crisp and clear highs, punchy mids and the bass is what you would expect, solid not muddy at all. I tested this speaker with three different devices, a Nokia Lumia 520, Apple iPod touch 5 gen, and a Nexus 7(2013). Remember with any Bluetooth speaker the audio is different between devices, for example my Nokia was louder and had more bass in the audio than the iPod. All three devices paired easily with the speaker, Bluetooth range was about 28 feet, and the actual volume was pretty impressive.
By far my Nokia was the loudest followed by the Nexus 7 and lastly the iPod touch. This speaker is not something you would use for a tailgate party, house party or for something that you would need a high volume for. This speaker excels in small rooms or the garage. Even if you are taking a shower this speaker is plenty loud. It does have your normal buttons (skip, pause, play, etc.)and they give a nice firm click when pressing them. Now I counted 29 clicks from no sound to full volume and for me 16 - 20 is plenty loud for me. While at full volume on the speaker and each device I did not hear any distortion at all. This speaker held up to classical, swing, jazz, blues and heavy metal and it kept asking for more. As with all speakers battery life does depend on how loud you have the speaker turned up, when set at half volume(15-18 clicks from no volume) I got about 8 1/2 to 9 hours play time. The build quality is fantastic, I did drop it a few times from about 15 feet and it still works, yes there is some scuffs and scrapes. I did splash it by accident and nothing is wrong it still plays like it should. Honestly I love this little speaker, the only improvement I would suggest is a way to daisy chain another one to it.

Mpow Grip Flex

The materials used in this mount feel really sturdy, not like some cheap plastic imitation. The gooseneck is tight and a bit hard to bend but I like that, to me that means less vibration and less chance for the device you put in it to sag. You will have some assembly when you take it out of the box, but nothing hard, the grip basically slips into place and it is a tight fit. Also included is a stabilizer with an adhesive strip on the bottom.
I mounted this I'm my windshield under not so perfect conditions, meaning my windshield was a bit dirty. I did this to see how well the suction mount gripped, well it has been a few weeks and it has not fallen off yet. I own a 2003 Jeep Liberty so I did not need the stabilizer at all(see picture below) but it is nice that MPow included it just incase your vehicle may need that support. I found that the mechanical grip was very smooth in opening and closing, it opens to 4 inches max. Now that measurement is from the ends of the foam on the grip, so think more of 3 3/4 inches for a comfortable fit.
I used two different devices in my testing my Nokia Lumia 520 in a silicone case and my iPod Touch 5 gen in a silicone case. The MPow grip help both devices firmly and without fail, the release button is on top of the backside of the grip, it is easy to get to and as I mentioned before it is smooth to open. The support feet swing out with out any problems and makes for a nice base for your device to rest when the grip is fully opened. The foam used on the grip is firm but soft enough to hold your device in place without causing any damage to your device.
There is also a ball swivel just behind the grip so you can adjust how your device will sit. It is an easy twist to loosen and tighten mechanism and performs really well. Just for fun I bent the gooseneck while it was attached to my windshield and the suction cup held up never once did it come off the glass. Over all this mount is well built and works better than some other models I have owned. For the price it is one heck of a deal. Do yourself a favor and get yourself one of these mounts you will be glad that you did.

Mpow Mini Selfie Stick

It is small, only 5 1/5 inches in length when collapsed slightly bigger than my iPod Touch 5 gen. so it can fit in a pocket and no one will know, Fully extended it is 25 inches, 27 if you have the clamp folded down(straight), it is very light weight as well. The claws of the clamp are only 1/2 wide so if you have a case that makes your device thicker than that you will have to remove your case for it to fit in the claws. The clamp starts at 2 inches and will open to 3 1/4 inches, once again check the measurement of your device with and without a case to ensure proper fit. The spring loaded clamp is strong, it held my iPod touch 5 with no problems, I even shook the stick for a minute to see if it would slip and the clamp held it in place with no issues at all.
The build quality is solid, every section has a tight feel with no wobble, the grip has a nice rubber cover that feels really comfortable to hold, the hinge is a GoPro style hinge so you can use this stick with a GoPro as well, the nut and bolt is removable so if you like you can put a custom colored one in its place which is cool if you want to add a bit of color too it. The hinge does lock down pretty tight, just make sure that you do not over tighten it or it just might break. The cable that you connect to your device stretches to 9 1/2 inches, any more than that and I you might tear it out of the stick. The shutter button does give a nice tactile click when pressed and is quite responsive, I as able to take multiple shots quickly, a bit faster than a Bluetooth style selfie stick. There are only two negatives I can see with this selfie stick. The first being that the cable is a bit too thin, I would have liked to have seen a bit more plastic shell around the wire for better longevity, the second somewhere to store the cable, as it stands the cable just hangs there flopping around, an integrated clip of some sort would be a welcomed addition. Over all the MPow mini Selfie Stick is an excellent buy and well worth the money!!

Mpow 18W USB AC Wall Charger

I know what you are thinking, "It's just another charger" but it is not. I used this charger on three devices, the Nexus 7(2013), iPod Touch 5gen, and the Nokia Lumia 520. Each device charged faster than using the OEM chargers. The Nexus 7 charged 30% faster, the iPod was 25% faster and the Nokia charged 32% faster. To some people that does not sound like much but when you factor the time saved it is a lot. The charger is made from a high grade plastic, it does not creak or flex, it feels solid in hand. The plug folds in for storage and the supplied cable is very well made. The cable is wrapped in a flexible rubber, both ends have a hard plastic casing giving the cable a nice look and feel.
You can feel safe leaving your device plugged in for extended times thanks to MPow's built in circuit/thermal protection. I left all devices in 48 hours each and I had no problems. I even bought a cheap $3 battery bank and left it plugged in for 2 days and once again no problems at all. There is only one negative I can see, and really it is not a negative. The supplied cable is only 28 inches long, another 8 inches would have been better but the cable is still long enough for a night stand. For me this charger is better than any OEM charger and is worth the money. Do yourself a favor and pick one up today!

Mpow Streambot

When I got this Mpow Streambot to review I really did not have any high expectations. So I bought an iHome Dock(Model iP15) to test the Mpow Streambot. I used three different devices to pair up with the Mpow Streambot, my Nexus 7(2013), iPod Touch 5 and my Nokia Lumia 520 all devices had no problem pairing with the Mpow Streambot. There was no hissing, crackling or noise when I paused a device or while no device was paired. Bluetooth range was about 30-31 feet, and the audio was clean and clear, the Mpow Streambot did not "color" the sound in anyway.
Now you have to remember that the device you are streaming from does have an effect on your music. Volume, EQ, Bluetooth range and any possible interference(noise). For example my Nokia is louder and has better EQ control than my iPod. The Mpow Streambot is small, and I really do mean small, it is 1 3/4 inches by 1 1/4 inches. Made from a high grade plastic it does feel well built in the hand. When you first dock the Mpow Streambot a blue and red light will flash in the upper right hand corner, that means it is waiting to pair, the light will be a steady blue when it is paired. This little device surprised me on how well it worked. I definitely recommend you buy this product if you have an older 30 pin iPhone dock.

MPow FreeBang Bluetooth Speaker

I own quite a few Bluetooth speakers and the MPow FreeBang did not let me down. I would like to start by saying that this speaker does have some weight to it, coming in at about 4 pounds. The speaker has a nice rubberized feel to it and the handle is made from a durable silicone rubber, there is only one flap and it is on the back of the speaker. Open the flap and you will see three ports, from left to right, 3.5mm audio input, micro USB port used to charge the speaker and a full size USB port to charge your phone or other device. The two smaller holes are the microphone(to the left of the 3.5mm port) and the LED light(between the USB ports). It has a 4400mAh battery which depending on how loud you turn the speaker up and how far away your device is from the speaker you can get 10 hours of play time. I will say that the first time that I charged the speaker, I was able to get about9 to 9 1/2 hours of play time that improved after charging it for the second time.
Charging time for me was about 7 hours which is about right for the size of the battery. Pairing the speaker is easy, turn it on and you will see a blue LED light flash, look for MBS8, choose that and your done. MPow says that the Bluetooth range is about 30 feet, I was able to get about 35 feet before the signal started to drop, even when I went into the basement or other rooms I never noticed signal drop. You get two cables with the FreeBang, a USB to micro USB for charging the speaker and a 3.5mm cable to connect your device straight into the speaker.
The FreeBang has two 5 watt speakers and a 4 1/2 inch by 2 inch bass port to give quite an enjoyable listening experience. On top of the speaker is where you will find the controls, power, back skip, forward skip, down volume, up volume and the pause button. Each button has a mild "click" to them, I counted 14 clicks from no sound to full volume. At full volume I really had to listen for any distortion, I did not hear any. Since the FreeBang has two speakers, and a good sized bass port, I found that the highs were crystal clear, sharp and defined, the mids had a nice punch that was crisp and the bass was a delight to hear, no muddy sounds just a nice tight thump, just listen to Jungle Boogie through it and you will know what I mean!
All my devices pair easily to the speaker, as always each device does affect what you hear, for example my iPod Touch is not as loud as my Nokia Lumia 520 and my Nexus 7(2013) has more bass in the playback than my iPod. I found an old LG phone from Trac Fone(LG800GHL) and it had no problem pairing to the FreeBang. I own the MPow Armor speaker and I love it but the FreeBang beats it hands down, it has a better bass response and longer batter life. The overall volume of this speaker is quite loud, not for a tailgate but loud enough for a BBQ or birthday party. The charging port is a 1 amp charger, it will charge your device but not as fast as a 2.4 amp so keep that in mind. The only thing that can make this speaker better is an LED indicator for the battery, yes the speaker does beep when it is getting low but having a gauge to let you know how much charge it has would be nice. Is the MPow FreeBang worth the money??? I would have to say yes, you get great sound and a power bank all for the asking price, you just cannot go wrong.

Mpow Grip Pro 2

I have tried a few dashboard mounts and was very disappointed until I got the Mpow Grip Pro 2. My Jeep Liberty has a very textured dash, and this mount stuck to it like glue! The suction cup has a type of sticky silicone rubber that clings to the dash even without clamping the mount down, but you will get too much wobble so clamp the mount down. Unlike some mounts this mount has a clamp release button which works brilliantly. I will add the Mpow Grip Pro 2 will grip to your windshield with just as much strength or more!
There are two pivot points and a ball head adjuster so you can get a pretty good angles. The pivot points have a cog type system which makes for a stable lock when you tighten the screw. The ball head is your typical ball adjuster, it is a bit tighter than most but that is a good thing. The phone holder is operated by a spring, the release button is on the back of the holder. When closed the holder measures 1 5/8 inches and when full open it measures 3 7/8 wide, those measurements are from end to end of the foam inserts. The bottom posts fold in and out if you need them.
The Mpow Grip Pro 2 held my Nokia Lumia 520 in a full armor case and my iPod Touch 5 with no problem. No shaking, vibration and no slipping. I even held the mount in my hand and shook it with both devices and the mount held them both in place. If you get the suction cup dirty all you have to do is run it under water, let it dry do not use anything to dry it let it air dry and it will be good to go. I do like this mount it truly does stick to my dash, it is tough removing it but I do not mind that at all, that just means it is made from a high grade material. I would and am recommending this mount.

Mpow Magneto earphones

I do like the design of the Mpow Magneto earphones, they are a bit big but aesthetically pleasing. You do get a charging cable made of high grade materials, different size ear tips, and different size stabilizers. The Magneto's is very simple to operate and pairing is a snap. On first use I only was able to get 7.5 hours of playback but with the second charge I did get the 8 hours of playback that Mpow claimed. The volume on the Magneto's is not that loud, you will have to rely on your device for that. What I did is press the volume button up button until I heard the beep to to let me know that the volume is maxed out and then pressed the down volume twice, for me that was my playback sweet spot.
I tested these on three devices my Apple iPod Touch 5, Nexus 7(2013) and my Nokia Lumia 520, each device paired quickly and had no problems during playback. The magnets in the earphones is a nice touch, when you stick both "buds" together the music pauses and when you pull them apart they resume the song where you paused it at. Unfortunately they do weigh down the Magneto's and they kept falling out of my ears, even with the stabilizers attached. The stabilizers when attached feel quite comfortable and are easy to attach.
The audio performance of the Magneto was a bit of a let down. The highs came on strong, pretty much over powered the mids, basically it sounded "tinny". The mids were barely there, vocals were clear, but the high end washed out the rest of the mids. The low end(bass) was lacking, even though you can hear the bass responses it sounded dry, even if the song was bass heavy. Even when I changed the EQ settings on certain devices I could not get the sound the way I wanted the high end was just to strong. Remember this is my experience and yours may be different, everyones ears are different. I never experienced any distortion at full volume, the blue tooth range was about 30 feet and charge time was 2 hours(give or take a few miniutes).
Would I recommend the Mpow Magneto earphones? Well that depends on how you will be using them. For exercising no, just sitting and enjoying music yes, as a second pair of earphones yes. The high end is really what is holding these back from being a fantastic set of earphones. Get that fixed the Mpow Magneto earphones will be a winner for sure!

Mpow Petrel earphones

The Mpow Petrel earphones come in a really nice box, they are presented very well inside the box. They are lightweight, if it were not for the feel of them in your ears you might forget that you are wearing them. I love the simple but elegant design. The charging port is behind the silver cap on the right earphone, a bit tricky to open but once you do it is easy going from there. You get a well built charging cable, and different sized silicone ear pods, small, medium and large and ear stabilizers.Charging took just under two hours and I did get the 5 hours of playback that Mpow claims.
I did notice that the blue tooth range was about 26 feet for me, still a pretty good range. I had no problems pairing the Mpow Petrel earphones to any of the three devices I used for testing, the Nexus 7(2013), Nokia Lumia 520 and my iPod Touch 5. There is a difference in audio and volume performance from each of the devices but that is not the fault of the Mpow Petrel earphones, it is due to the fact that each device has it's own characteristics. The earphones themselves are not that loud you have to rely on your device for the that, it makes sense because of the size of the battery.
The audio was full and a pleasant experience. The highs were tight and crisp, the mids were punchy and well balanced and the bass was clean, no muddy/muffled noise, just a nice warm thump. Vocals was easily heard though the mix as well, even when both the earphones and devices were at full volume there was no distortion, no loss of any EQ frequencies at all. It was a true pleasure to use the Mpow Petrel earphones. Due to how light weight these are I had no trouble with these falling out of my ears, a very snug fit that was comfortable even at the 5 hour mark. Taking calls was easy, though at times the caller did have trouble hearing be but that could have been because the collar of my coat was in the way.
Mpow also included tiny cable management clips, if you find that the Mpow Petrel earphones cable is a bit too big use the clips to shorten it up, it takes a bit to get used to the clips but worth it. The included stabilizers work splendidly, they were comfortable, I hardly knew that they were there, and they kept the earphones in place. The only negative I can say about the Mpow Petrel earphones is that the pairing LED light, which is on the right ear phone is too small, if you are not looking for it, or if the environment you are in is really bright you can miss it easily, so if Mpow can make this LED just a little bigger these earphones would be perfect. I would definitely recommend these to anyone!

Mpow Grip Flex

The design of this mount is pretty basic, nothing fancy just a straight forward design. The materials used feel really sturdy, no cheap plastic here. The gooseneck is tight and a bit hard to bend but I like that, to me that means less vibration and less chance for sag. You will have some assembly when you take it out of the box, but nothing hard, the grip basically slips into place and it is a tight fit. I used two different devices in my testing my Nokia Lumia 520 in a silicone case and my iPod Touch 5 in a silicone case. The spring clip held onto both devices without any problems. I even shook the mount vigorously and the spring clip held the devices in place with only minor slippage. I do not recommend that you do that but I was testing the strength of the spring. The clip is well padded so scratches will not be an issue, at times I did have to use two hands to remove the device from the mount as well as to place the device into the mount.
There is also a 360 degree ball swivel just behind the grip so you can adjust how you would like your device to sit. It is an easy twist to loosen and tighten mechanism and performs really well. Just for fun I bent the gooseneck while it was attached to my windshield and the suction cup held up, never once did it come off the glass. This mount is well built and works better than some other models I have owned.
