The materials used in this mount feel really sturdy, not like some cheap plastic imitation. The gooseneck is tight and a bit hard to bend but I like that, to me that means less vibration and less chance for the device you put in it to sag. You will have some assembly when you take it out of the box, but nothing hard, the grip basically slips into place and it is a tight fit. Also included is a stabilizer with an adhesive strip on the bottom.
I mounted this I'm my windshield under not so perfect conditions, meaning my windshield was a bit dirty. I did this to see how well the suction mount gripped, well it has been a few weeks and it has not fallen off yet. I own a 2003 Jeep Liberty so I did not need the stabilizer at all(see picture below) but it is nice that MPow included it just incase your vehicle may need that support. I found that the mechanical grip was very smooth in opening and closing, it opens to 4 inches max. Now that measurement is from the ends of the foam on the grip, so think more of 3 3/4 inches for a comfortable fit.
I used two different devices in my testing my Nokia Lumia 520 in a silicone case and my iPod Touch 5 gen in a silicone case. The MPow grip help both devices firmly and without fail, the release button is on top of the backside of the grip, it is easy to get to and as I mentioned before it is smooth to open. The support feet swing out with out any problems and makes for a nice base for your device to rest when the grip is fully opened. The foam used on the grip is firm but soft enough to hold your device in place without causing any damage to your device.
There is also a ball swivel just behind the grip so you can adjust how your device will sit. It is an easy twist to loosen and tighten mechanism and performs really well. Just for fun I bent the gooseneck while it was attached to my windshield and the suction cup held up never once did it come off the glass. Over all this mount is well built and works better than some other models I have owned. For the price it is one heck of a deal. Do yourself a favor and get yourself one of these mounts you will be glad that you did.
